A family in Bungoma has been left with more questions than answers after learning about the death of their kin online.
Nancy Wankungu, the mother of the deceased, said she knew about the demise of her son after coming across information circulating online about an incident where a young man was found brutally murdered at a rental house in Uwanja Ndege, on the outskirts of Bungoma town.
She became suspicious of the incident and decided to investigate because her son lives in the same area. She tried calling him but could not find him on all four lines.
“My son has four sim cards, three for his personal use and one for the office operation,” she said, adding that she later came to learn that the young man was her son Joel Watta Wakhungu, 24, who works at Watu Credit in the Bungoma branch.
The aggrieved woman revealed that the thugs robbed him of his TV set and laptop.
Joel’s landlady, Eunice Makokha, told the Star that she received the news after a tenant informed her husband before he went and checked.
Her husband found the young man’s body lying in a pool of blood in the house.
The matter was later reported at the Bungoma Police Station, and the body was taken to the Bungoma Referral Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem analysis.
