An operation inside Pastor Paul Mackenzie's compound in Kilifi/Courtesy
A man from Eshihaka Village in Musanda Location of Mumias West, Kakamega County, is worried after his four children got lost after his wife took them to the controversial Pastor Paul Mackenzie’s church in Kilifi County.
The man, John Muholo, said the four children, aged between two and 12, went missing a month ago after accompanying their mother, who was among the rescued victims of the cult, to Shakahola.
He said her wife joined the cult in 2018 after getting to learn about the pastor’s sermons on television.
The wife, Millicent Maurine Ajai, was rescued among tens of victims during the operation by police, which has led to the exhumation of 90 bodies.
The woman had lied to her husband that she was going to visit her mother in Siaya County and would travel from their home in Kaloleni, Nairobi, during the Easter holiday, and promised to come back before it ended.
Pastor Mackenzie is still in police custody as police dig in for more bodies after the cleric allegedly instructed his followers to fast to starvation so as to meet their creator.
