Bishop Njenga Girls’ student found dead after committing suicide

The student had earlier complained of being chased away from school for homework, according to a witness who overheard neighbors.

A student of Archbishop Njenga Girls’ High School in Lugari Sub-County has been found dead this evening after committing suicide.

The student, said to be a Form One, hung herself using a leso in her room at their home in Murram Village, some two kilometers from Lwandeti town in Lugari.

A witness told the Western Kenya Times that she overheard neighbors claiming that the student complained of being sent home for homework before the shocking incident.

“All I can confirm now is that there’s a student at Bishop Njenga Girls’ who has committed suicide. The reason behind that remains unclear,” the source said on the phone.

Photos shared with the Western Kenya Times show police at the scene recording statements before they can carry the body to the mortuary.

Neighbors are also seen at the home, watching in disbelief.

The Western Kenya Times is trying to reach out to police and the family to find out more about the heartbreaking incident.
