A fatal accident on Sunday morning is feared to have claimed the lives of at least three people as some others sustained serious injuries after a truck lost control and rammed into a boda boda stage at Kipkaren along the Eldoret-Malaba highway.
One man lost one of his legs’ toes after they were chopped off in the accident.
A witness told the Western Kenya Times that the lorry bound for Uganda sped across the Kipkaren River bridge and ran into a boda boda shade, colliding with and crashing two motorcycles in the process.
“The rider of one of the motorcycles was trying to cross the road with his passenger and was hit, and his bike was crashed,” the witness said.
The other motorcycle was packed at the boda boda stage shade.
The witness said pedestrians are among the three feared dead.
The accident caused a traffic snarl-up as residents rushed to the scene to witness and try to rescue the victims.
Charity Wyre Daspider, a Facebook user, posted that she lost three of her friends in the accident.
