Man’s hand chopped off in land dispute in Bungoma

Police are holding in custody the main suspect.

A 34-year-old man, Oscar Wafula, is nursing severe injuries at the Bungoma Referral Hospital after part of his left hand was cut off using a machete after an argument over a two-acre piece of land with his stepbrother escalated.

Wafula, a husband and father of two from Sang’alo in Bungoma County, was writhing in pain in the hospital bed after having his arm amputated.

Nurses in the hospital said the man, whose injured hand was totally covered in bandages, was responding well to treatment.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating the incident to determine the rightful owner of the land and take action against the main suspect who is in police custody.

Wafula’s family wants justice taken against the suspect following the heinous act.
