Residents of Lugari Centre village in Lugari Sub-county, Kakamega County, are grieving over the loss of a man and her daughter who perished in an accident involving a truck and their motorbike at Mukhonje in Lwandeti along the Eldoret-Webuye highway.
Bonface Luvai, a middle-aged man, is said to have been coming from picking her only daughter, Lavigne Luvai, from Silungai Secondary School, before the trailer ran into them at around 5 pm last evening.
The father and her daughter passed away on their way to hospital, according to reports.
“Boniface is a farmer and also a boda boda. He has been taking her Form One daughter and picking her from school every morning and evening because he couldn’t take her to boarding due to financial constraints,” said the area administrator Mr. Lyanda Mulati, who spoke to the Western Kenya Times this morning.
Mr. Lyanda said Mr. Luvai, a father of three, was negotiating a corner at Mukhonje before he ran into the truck which was escaping a bump.
“It was a tragic head on collision,” he said.
Lugari location chief Evans Adavaji confirmed the incident.
“They are my neighbors here at Lugari Centre. The father is my former student way back when I was a teacher,” he said.
