Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera has promised to pay for a flight and a 5-star hotel weekend treat for the male and female students who will emerge the best in an ongoing mock exam for secondary schools in the constituency.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station last evening, the lawmaker said he intends to heavily motivate learners and teachers as he implements his agenda to uplift education standards in his constituency.
“I’ll pay for a flight for the best-performing male and female students in the ongoing mock exams for a weekend treat in a five-star hotel in Nairobi,” he said.
The MP, who last week successfully mobilized leaders from Western Kenya to raise funds for building infrastructure at Lwandeti DEB Secondary School, said he is targeting at least 30 As in the forthcoming KCSE 2023.
He said 10 percent of top-performing students in the mock, which kicked off on Monday, will attend the second edition of academic villages in August in Kivaywa Boys’ and Archbishop Njenga Girls’ secondary schools to be assessed by expert teachers.
He also urged parents to play their part in the academic progress of their children.
“Parents should play their part as I play mine. Sometimes it is pitiful when a parent is not concerned with the education of their children,” he said.
