It is shocking and at the same time funny how Kenyans can make an opportunity out of someone else’s tragedy.
Residents of Mukhonje in Matete, Kakamega County, seized the opportunity to loot pangas after a truck that was ferrying the commodity got involved in an accident along the Eldoret-Webuye highway.
At 11 p.m. on Wednesday, the driver of the vehicle lost control after the brakes failed, causing the vehicle to fall.
Hundreds of residents immediately rushed to the scene, broke into the vehicle and made away with pangas that were on transit.
It is estimated that half the cargo was stolen before police arrived.
