Kaburengu accident death toll hits 8 as two more pupils die in hospital

Three victims have been referred to ICU for further medical intervention.

The number of people who have perished following a grisly road accident at the Kaburengu blackspot along the Eldoret-Malaba highway has hit eight.

Two more pupils succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at the Webuye County Hospital, medical superintendent Dr. Simon Kisaka told WKT.

Five pupils and a driver died on the spot in the accident that involved a bus belonging to Busia Ebenezer Academy and a Mercedes-Benz on Saturday evening.

Eleven pupils are still admitted to the facility for more medical observations, while ten have been discharged and are in stable condition.

Three victims have been referred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital.

Police said the driver of the Mercedes-Benz took off after the accident, and he is being pursued.
