Chekalini: Police discover body dumped in a well while looking for foetus remains

Police investigating a case about a dead foetus coincidentally bumped into the decomposing body of a 37-year-old man dumped in a well in Mayoyo Village in Chekalini Ward, Lugari Sub-county of Kakamega County.

Lugari OCPD Bernard Ngungu said the owner of the unused well alerted the police after sensing a pungent smell emanating from the pit, thinking that it would help in the investigations the officers were carrying out.

“The police coincidentally discovered the body of the man while looking for body parts: skin and intestines of a foetus involved in a totally different case,” he said.

The man, who works in a local posho mill, is said to have disappeared on January 11, 2022, and his family had been looking for him.

Mr. Ngungu said it is hard to determine whether the man committed suicide or was murdered. He said the police are waiting for post mortem results as they try to piece together the evidence to see if it connects.

The body of the deceased is lying at Kimbilio Mortuary in the neighboring Uasin Gishu County as investigations continue.
