A thunderous procession of students of St. Peter’s Nakalira Secondary School in Kimilili Sub-County in Bungoma County took to the streets early on Monday morning, demanding the swift transfer of their newly appointed principal.
A source told our reporter that the students walked away from the assembly when principal Kennedy Nyamolo, who was recently transferred from St. Paul’s Boys Lugari in Kakamega County, tried to address them.
The students marched to the Kimilili Sub-County Education Offices carrying placards and chanting Nyamolo must go.
A PTA member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the students were protesting the unfriendly rules imposed on them by the new administration.
As the ink dried on this report, the students were still waiting at the sub-county offices, chanting for the transfer of their new school head.
Mr. Nyamolo took over from Moses Mabonga, who retired and whose departure at the close of the previous year had left a void within the institution.
It appears that the flames of rebellion have been ignited, and the students have made it abundantly clear that they will not be silenced until their fervent plea for change is fulfilled.
