Business activities went on as usual in Kakamega, Busia, and Bungoma towns despite calls by the opposition to take part in the anti-government demos.
Contrary to what was witnessed in other towns, residents in Kakamega and Bungoma maintained calmness as Azimio’s three-day demonstrations kicked off on Wednesday.
In Kakamega town, police could be seen making patrols for any sign of demonstrations.
Later on, UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala urged the residents to desist from participating in demos “and call me if Wycliffe Oparanya starts demos in this town.”
“We want peace; we want people to continue with their businesses; we want development projects to be intact, not destroyed,” Malala said.
Youths could be seen gathering at the KANU offices, but the plan for a demo did not mature.
In Busia town, where demonstrations reached boiling point last week, there was an unusual calmness as residents went on with their activities.
The demonstrations were largely witnessed in Nairobi, Kisumu, Busia, Mombasa, and Nakuru.
