A middle-aged woman from Mugumu Village in Marakusi Sub-location, Lugari, is nursing severe injuries and one of her fingers has been chopped off after she was attacked by an unknown assailant while fetching firewood in Lugari Forest.
The woman, Dorcas Ambia, was in the company of two friends before a man surfaced from the depths of the forest, brandishing a club. Sensing danger from the fast-approaching man, they took off.
Dorcas, unfortunately, tripped and fell before the wild man descended on her with the club without a word.
“He continued beating me with the club, smashing my hands as I cried for help,” she said.
Her friends later came to her rescue, screaming at the top of their voices before the man disappeared into the woods.
Ms. Ambia suffered severe injuries to her head and hands. She was rushed to the hospital where one of her fingers was cut off.
“It is so sad that part of my body has been buried while I am still alive, and I still don’t understand my crime to deserve this,” she said, almost to tears.
Mr. Arthur Aura, her husband, and Mr. Manasseh Kegode, the village elder, have harshly described the incident.
