Two people have been confirmed dead after the brakes of their lorry failed, vehicle lost control and ran into one of the abandoned vehicles at Kaburengu in Lugari Sub-county, Kakamega County, along the Eldoret-Webuye highway.
James Musee, who witnessed the accident on his way to Chimoi, told the Western Kenya Times that the vehicle was descending the dangerous steep slope, which has been blamed for a number of accidents, when it’s brakes failed and the driver veered off the road.
“The lorry, transporting a parcel, smashed into one of the abandoned vehicles which were involved in a past accident opposite Valassi Resort just near the flyover on your way to Webuye. The driver and his passenger died instantly and they have been rushed to the mortuary. There is no other causality,” he said.
This is the fifth accident happening this January alone after one in which a father and his daughter died at Mukhonje while they were coming from school barely a week ago.
