Thieves broke into two churches in Vihiga County and made away with valuables, including equipment.
The thieves went ahead to roast maize at their comfort in one of the churches, the Emukhuyu Salvation Army, where they stole cables, grain and curtains.
It was not the first time the thieves were breaking into the church.
“The worst of all the thieves used the flag post to roast maize in one of the rooms inside the church! The church will now be forced to re-do wiring as well as look for another flagpole,” Joyce Anzaye, a church leader, said.
The other church in which they made away with property is the Emukhaya Pentecaostal Assemblies of God (PAG).
Residents are calling upon security agencies to intensify to put up measures to curb the rampant theft cases in the area.
