Two sisters from Mautuma Ward in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County, have written to the WKT, thanking the online publication for helping them get well-wishers who have facilitated their scholarships to finish their secondary school education.
Lonah Agape and Ann Veronicah’s story of plight was published by WKT, prompting well-wishers to come through for them and help them secure chances in secondary schools in the country.
Lonah, who was the best student in Lugari Sub-County, and Ann scored highly in their KCPE 2021, getting 413 marks and 378 marks, respectively, and were called to join St. Brigit’s Girls Kitale and Archbishop Njenga Girls’ Lugari.
Their story asking for help went viral, and well-wishers came through and paid for their secondary school fees and requirements.
Lonah received a full scholarship from John Ogola, a businessman, as Ann’s fees were paid by Lugari parliamentary seat candidate Alex Atingo and Mautuma Ward MCA Charles Anyona.
They have now penned a letter, send to this reporter, thanking WKT and the well-wishers, especially Mr. Ogola, for responding to their pleas:
“We’re grateful for Mr. John Ogola, the godsend well-wisher who is now supporting us in our education. May God guide and bless him abundantly in his life. May the work of his hands bear fruit in our education.
We also thank the Western Kenya Times for helping us get the well-wishers.
We promise to do our best and make you proud.
By Ann Veronicah and Lonah Agape.”
Lonah Agape scored an A (plain) and Ann garnered a B (plain) in their end-term exams. They are now in Form Two.
