Police in Busia are holding a woman in custody for allegedly dumping her two-day-old baby into a pit latrine.
The 26-year-old woman from Funyula was arrested after locals tipped off police officers.
The officers managed to retrieve the infant’s body from the pit latrine.
The woman said she took the action because life is difficult and it is hard taking care of her little baby.
The woman is expected to be arraigned in court today once investigations are complete.
“The body of the baby girl was moved to a local mortuary,” police said.
