Residents of Nabemo Village in Mautuma Ward in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County, are accusing the area MCA, Charles Anyona, of lying to them about the progress of a water project.
The residents said that it has been three months since the ward representative promised to finish the project, which would solve the water shortage problem in the area.
“He told us that the contractor was ‘on the ground’ and even called a meeting with residents, but nothing has been going on since then,” Joseph Okwemba, one of the residents, said.
Mr. Okwemba said the building that houses the water pump was closed long ago, and the pebbles and bricks on site have been there ever since without progress.
“If the contractor failed, look for someone else to resume the work. Even Governor Barasa knows that this project has started, but we all know nothing is being done. Those involved should start working so that we can get water,” another resident said.
