Residents of Teresia village in Malava Sub-County, Kakamega County, have been left in shock after a shopkeeper hit a customer to death for failing to pay a Sh60 debt.
The deceased, a 63-year-old woman, allegedly borrowed items from the shop and took too long to pay.
“She sent a child to go and pay the debt and borrow other items, but the shopkeeper refused. The elderly woman then came to the shop fuming with fury. The shopkeeper came out, took a stone, hit her, and ended up killing her,” a resident said.
The deceased’s body was taken to a mortuary in Butali.
It is not clear if the accused shopkeeper was arrested or not.
