Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has lashed back at critics who claim he has decamped from ODM, the party that helped him clinch the set, to President William Ruto’s UDA.
Critics called out Barasa for betraying his party after he welcomed Ruto to his home last week during the Head of State’s visit to the Western region.
Speaking during the launch of the Kakamega County Governors Cup on Saturday, Barasa insisted that his involvement with Ruto was to foster development for residents by working closely with the President.
“As the governor, my priority is to serve the people of Kakamega with the help of the National Government,” he explained.
Barasa is also supporting Ruto’s efforts to revamp the ailing sugar sector in the country, saying it will go a long way in addressing the plight of farmers in the region.
“You have seen after only two days of issuing an order what is happening in Mumias, and we want to support the president in all he is doing,” he stated.
