The County Government of Kakamega is planning to upgrade major roads in Lugari Sub-County to bitumen standards.
The Lwandeti-Nzoia and Mbande-Makhukhuni roads are set to be tarmacked to ease transport and communication in the sub-county.
As a short term mitigation plan, the county has allocated Sh10 million for the maintenance of the Mbande-Makhukhuni road to all weather.
Kakamega County Deputy Governor Ayub Savula made this clear while addressing congregants at an event at Makhukhuni Primary School in Chevaywa ward, Matete Sub-County, during a farewell party for the retirement of the school’s head teacher, Mrs. Selpher Wetiva Barasa.
The two projects are part of Governor Fernandes Barasa’s manifesto to improve the road network in the county, as promised during last year’s election campaigns.
