Mugoiri Girls’ students suspended for overeating to be readmitted

14 students from Mugoiri Girls High School in Muranga county who had been suspended for allegedly serving a special meal twice are to be readmitted.

The decision by the school admission came after netizens took to social media to lament over the suspension of the students terming the incident as a minor case of indiscipline.

The students were suspended on January 19 and were each fined ksh.10,500 as a penalty for taking a second plate.

The school explained that the money was to cater for a special meal that was to be prepared for the other students. They added that some of the students missed the special meal because of the action of the 14 students.

The head of school, Susan Mundia, stated that she was absent when the students were suspended. She apologized to the parents over the turn of events, agreeing that the students be called back to school immediately.
