Salim Namusasi pays fees for 17 students in Mautuma Ward

As a way of promoting education in Mautuma Ward in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County, Salim Namusasi, who aspires to be the area MCA in 2027, has paid school fees for 17 students.

Namusasi gave out Sh26,000 to help clear the fee arrears of the students from schools within the ward as part of his wider agenda to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable families.

The students were identified by Moses Otieno, Namusasi’s friend, and among them are 16 from Immaculate Heart Secondary School, who received Sh1,500 each.

The leader also paid Sh6,000 for Faith Makungu, a student at the neighboring Mugunga Secondary School.

“I have been doing this since 2017, and up to now I have helped over 200 students in schools like Nuru Secondary School and now at Immaculate Heart Secondary, where 16 students have benefited from the initiative from the Namusasi Foundation,” he said.

Namusasi reiterated that education is the best thing a leader can offer his people. He added that he relates to parents who are grappling with hard economic times to ensure that their children get a quality education.

The principal of Immaculate Heart Secondary, Dinah Wekesa, said the majority of the students who benefitted are in Forms Three and Four. She thanked the leader for his kindness and said it will go a long way in ensuring students focus on their studies without worrying about small fee arrears.

“It is a good gesture, and having such people in society who embrace education wholeheartedly is a blessing. We appreciate him for the effort,” she said.
