A family in Mufutu Village in Lugari Ward in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County, has woken up to the sad news of the demise of the driver of a police vehicle who perished in a road accident on Friday night.
CPL Shadrack Mwendwa of Turbi Police Station in Marsabit County died on the spot after the van he was driving collided with another vehicle while trying to escape a sudden attack.
As the gunfire erupted unexpectedly, the driver’s instinct was to flee, but in the chaos, control slipped from their grasp, leading to a collision with the oncoming vehicle.
“Some officers jumped off the vehicle and he hit another vehicle while trying to escape,” a source close to the family revealed.
Other police officers on board sustained injuries, according to a police source.
Mr. Mwendwa has left behind a wife and four children: two girls and two boys.
