Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and his Malava counterpart Malulu Injendi were forced to flee after crowds at two separate functions confronted them for voting in favor of the Finance Bill 2024.
Barasa was attending a burial in Sirende, Bungoma County, when he was heckled by youths, prompting his departure. Similarly, Malulu faced a hostile crowd at a burial ceremony in Chemuche Ward, Malava Sub-County, and had to flee after residents threatened to beat him, accusing him of betrayal.
These incidents reflect the growing frustrations among Kenyans, particularly the youth, after 204 MPs voted to pass the bill despite widespread public outcry urging the government to withdraw it.
