Grey Moi: Stalled Marakusi Dispensary allocated Sh10 million for completion

Grey Moi, the Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Lugari Ward, has reported significant progress on the Marakusi Dispensary project, which has been stalled for six years.

In an interview with WKT at the Bungoma National Polytechnic, the MCA announced that the County Government of Kakamega has allocated Sh10 million for the project in the new financial year.

“I have confirmed that the Marakusi Dispensary has been included in this year’s budget with an allocation of Sh10 million,” he said.

Moi stated that he is awaiting the completion of the procurement process before contracting someone to finalize the project swiftly.

“The completion of this project is long overdue, and the people of Marakusi have suffered greatly. I am committed to ensuring they have access to medical care after seven years of hardship,” he said, expressing his goal to have the facility operational by the end of the year.

The original dispensary building, which was launched in 2008, was condemned by the public health department in 2018 due to structural issues.

In 2022, security guards responsible for the new structure reported delays in salary payments by the County Government of Kakamega, which had lasted for nearly three and a half years.

Meeting with Students

Grey Moi visited the Bungoma National Polytechnic to check on students who are part of his Abana Basome Initiative which seeks to absorb a substantial number of students from Lugari Ward into higher learning institutions.

During the visit, Moi reassured the students of his commitment to ensuring they remain in school.

“I came to see my children. We had a very productive meeting. I encouraged them to study hard and addressed a few challenges by agreeing to discuss them with the school management for resolution,” he said.

Regarding bursaries, the MCA noted that he completed distributing cheques to schools in Lugari Ward on Friday, prioritizing those in need.
