Three families in Lugari lost two brothers each in separate incidents in the last four months

Residents of Lugari are grappling with a series of tragic events where three different families have lost two brothers each under bewildering circumstances in the last four months.

In the most recent incident, a family in Kilulu village, Lugari Ward, has just buried Nalichi Isaac and Dalton Chahenza. The brothers, both painters by trade, tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Narok on June 27, 2024. Reports indicate their motorcycle collided with a stationary truck after they were temporarily blinded by oncoming vehicle headlights, causing them to lose control.

Isaac, survived by his widow and three children, and Dalton, survived by his widow, are mourned deeply by their community.

In another tragic occurrence, a family in Munyenya village, Mukuyu Sub-Location, Mautuma Ward, also faced a double loss. Dennis Akoto Amani, aged 27, was found deceased in a pit latrine on June 17, 2024, just a month after the death of his brother, Kelvine Amani, in a road accident in Nairobi.

Assistant Chief Inea Oyuji confirmed the devastating incident, stating that the family, which was still reeling from Kelvine’s death, suspected Dennis succumbed to immense emotional stress triggered by his brother’s tragic loss.

Adding to the community’s grief, Bonventure Ounza, aged 24, and Callistus Apwoka, aged 20, from Jordan Village in Mautuma Ward, met a tragic end on February 20, 2024. The brothers, casual laborers at Neema Livestock and Slaughtering Investments in Luckysummer, Nairobi, were fatally shot by officers from Kasarani Police Station.

The incident occurred despite the brothers surrendering and pleading to be taken to their workplace for identification, mere steps away. Bonventure was fatally shot at point-blank range, and Callistus, witnessing his brother’s death, met a similar fate after requesting the officers to end his life.

These heartbreaking events have left Lugari residents in disbelief and mourning, questioning the string of tragedies that have befallen these families within such a short span of time.

“Lugari needs serious prayers and intercession. We must banish the angels of death, especially those bringing premature endings,” remarked Jibera Samuel in response to the tragic deaths of Nalichi Isaac and Dalton Chahenza.
