Rapson Alungahu, a prominent critic of Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera, has made a surprising political shift by joining the MP’s camp.
Rapson, who has gained attention for his outspoken views on leadership in Lugari, announced that his decision was driven by a desire to foster “direct communication from the ground.”
“This is an important time for my community,” Rapson explained. “I will serve as Nabii’s coordinator in the field, ensuring that our complaints reach the MP.”
He emphasized that his move was motivated by the best interests of residents of Mukonge, his home region.
Rapson’s political shift comes as a surprise to many, especially given his recent online presence, where he has been vocal in criticizing Nabwera’s leadership.
Through a series of videos posted on his Facebook page, Rapson highlighted issues such as alleged intimidation of youths by the MP’s supporters and close family members. He also accused Nabwera of neglecting vital infrastructure concerns, including the poor condition of local roads.
Despite his criticisms, Rapson’s advocacy has had a positive impact on the community. His efforts led to the construction of six toilets at Mukonge Primary School which has been neglected by previous local leadership.
Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera confirmed meeting with Rapson Alungahu along with other youths from the area. The meeting, which was disclosed in a Facebook post by the MP, focused on addressing concerns surrounding his leadership and charting a way forward for the constituency.
“The leadership of the Mukonge community, including both youth and elders, visited me for a courtesy meeting,” read his post in part. “We engaged in discussions on key development matters, including reviving Mukonge Primary and MukSecondary schools, empowering the youth, and advancing agricultural initiatives.”
