Over 900,000 candidates are expected to participate in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams which are set to begin on October 18 and conclude on November 22, 2024.
Bishop Sulumeti Girls’ High School in Lumakanda Ward, Lugari Constituency, is gearing up for the exams with high hopes and strong backing from the community.
With a target mean score of 5.7, the school is optimistic about its 237 candidates, a rise from last year’s 223.
In 2023, 32 students scored university entry grades as the school got a mean score of 4.5, a milestone the institution aims to surpass this year.
Elizabeth Chebukwa, the Deputy Principal, has emphasized that maintaining discipline remains a top priority, with no major incidents that may deter students from sitting for the exams reported.
Ms. Chebukwa also states that the students’ enthusiasm for the exams has been bolstered by significant support from key local leaders, including Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera and Lumakanda Ward MCA Bernard Bokanda.
She said that Nabwera’s commitment to education in the constituency is evident, as he has not only funded the school’s mock exams but also provided financial assistance to underprivileged students.
“We are grateful for MP Nabwera’s continued support. He has truly uplifted the morale of our students, especially those facing financial challenges,” Mrs. Chebukwa said.
MCA Bokanda has played a vital role in encouraging academic and extracurricular excellence at the school.
“He has rewarded top-performing students in both academics and sports, provided bursaries, and made personal visits to the institution, further solidifying his commitment to the success of Bishop Sulumet Girls’ High School,” the Deputy Principal said.
