The Smart Nakuru Community-Based Organization (CBO) is organizing a workshop aimed at equipping women in Mautuma, Lugari, with essential tailoring skills and financial empowerment through table banking.
The initiative, scheduled for November 8, 2024, will take place from 9 a.m. at the Smart Nakuru Skills Hub, located near Saisi Junction on Mukuyu Road, Mautuma Ward.
Led by Chief Administrator Nic Luvai, the workshop seeks to empower local women passionate about tailoring by providing hands-on training in the use of sewing machines.
This program aims not only to refine technical skills but also to support aspiring women entrepreneurs in boosting their businesses through table banking—a community-driven savings model designed to facilitate access to funding.
“Our goal is to enhance livelihoods by providing skilled women the tools they need to support their families, especially during challenging economic times,” explains Luvai.
Mr. Luvai emphasizes that the project reflects Smart Nakuru CBO’s commitment to creating viable opportunities for women who are skilled in tailoring, equipping them to build sustainable careers and income streams.
The program also features a micro-leasing initiative for sewing machines, which, upon roll-out, will allow women to rent equipment as they grow their businesses. This unique model aims to support income-generating activities, enabling participants to gain financial independence while building a robust community network.
Training programs are already underway at the Smart Nakuru Skills Hub, providing continuous support to Mautuma residents through skill-building initiatives that align with the CBO’s broader mission of community empowerment.
Women interested in participating can reach out to Nic Luvai at 0723 780566 for more information on the workshop and future opportunities.
