Vihiga boy nailed on a tree for stealing radio speaks

A 19-year-old boy from North Izava Location in Sabatia, Vihiga County, who was found nailed on a tree for allegedly stealing a radio set has narrated the ordeal he went through.

Collins Sambaya, who was ‘crucified’ on a guava tree on Friday, denied claims that he stole the radio from the two men who assaulted him.

Collins said he begged for mercy from his assailants who had tricked him into following him to the homestead where the heinous act happened, but they didn’t heed to his plea.

He said this while receiving treatment at Itando Mission Hospital where he was rushed after being rescued.

His family had earlier denied that their kin was a thief. His grandfather, referred to as Henry, told reporters that a few days before the suspects, who are at large, had Sambaya arrested but police released him for lack of evidence.

The incident, which went viral, sparked reactions from Kenyans many who condemned the act.

“Those who did this will never see heaven,” Good Luck Johnson wrote on the Western Kenya Times Facebook page’s comment section.
