Mudavadi writes to DCI over Atwoli’s “life-threatening” remarks

ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi has written to the DCI complaining of life-threatening remarks from COTU boss Francis Atwoli.

Through a letter titled “Threat to life statement made by Francis Atwoli against our client, Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi” by his lawyer, Nick Biketi, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader wants Atwoli to explain what he knows about plans to harm him.

Biketi said Atwoli has been issuing threats aimed at his client and that he must now be held accountable.

“Ours is to demand, which we hereby do, that one Francis Atwoli be summoned, arrested, and charged for these life -threatening statements,” he wrote.

Mimi nawaambia mchana and I don’t want to curse you kwa ajili nilimpa kiti nikasema yeye ataongoza sisi kama jamii yetu,” the lawyer quotes Atwoli as saying.

And adds, “Lakini ile kitu nataka kumwambia anaenda kuitwa; kama hawachi hiyo mtindo hivi karibuni utafungua TV yako unaona breaking news, mama yake amemuita; mnasikia hiyo maneno?”

The lawyer said the words  were injurious and life-threatening.

This comes after Atwoli’s claims that Mudavadi failed to utilize his position when he and other Luhya elders installed him as the community’s spokesman.
