Bungoma: Police recover metal boxes used to carry KSh 25 million robbed from a bank 

Police have recovered two metal boxes that were used to carry stolen cash after a robbery incident at a bank in Kimilili, Bungoma, on Tuesday.

The boxes were found in Bumula, 50 kilometres from the crime scene but without cash.

Two police officers and a bank manager of Ushirika Cooperative Bank were shot in the incident before the three gangsters made away with KSh 25 million.

Two of the robbers have been identified from CCTV footage. They were captured carrying AK47 rifles and two metal boxes. The other one is believed to be the driver of their getaway vehicle.

Police are yet to arrest any of them.

In the CCTV footage, one robber is seen running, carrying three AK-47 guns. He turns back after realizing that his partner is stuck with the two metal boxes containing the money.

The robber is seen handing over one of the guns to his partner, and together they leave, each one of them carrying one box.

Two police officers and the bank manager who were shot are still admitted at the Moi Referral Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital in Eldoret.
