A student at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) was forced to rush to the nearby police station after a lady he ‘imported’ from outside campus disappeared with his phone.
Brian Kinyanyi, a fourth year, invited the lady she refers to as Valentine Lopez, 21, into his room on Saturday at 8.00 pm after meeting her on Friday at Sichirai near Queen of Love, an exotic place near the campus.
He says the lady had told her she had been chased away from home and was looking for a place to at least to spend the night.
According to his narration to the Western Kenya Times’ Dennis Avokoywa, the Brian gave his phone to the lady from Ikonyero ‘to go through Tik Tok’ as he took a bath in preparation for the big the task ahead.
Coming out of the bathroom, he was shocked to find the lady had disappeared with his phone worth KSh 17,000.
“She had left her ‘tululu’ and disappeared with mine, which I bought after burning and selling charcoal,” Brian said.
He adds that the lady’s phone was on and he was forced to call some of her contacts to trace her after reporting to Lurambi Police Station, where he failed to get help.
“I successfully traced her to where she was hiding with my phone. I took the phone at around 3.00 am (Sunday) and headed home,” he said.
Brian says he has learnt the hard way and this should be a lesson to comrades not to invite strangers in their rooms.
