Police are digging for details to trace and arrest a man who attacked and raped a 90-year-old woman in Chekalini, in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County.
According to the old lady who stays alone in Koromaiti Village, the man broke into her house through a window on Monday night and assaulted her by beating and strangling her before raping her several times.
“I couldn’t even raise my voice to call for help as he tried to strangle me to ensure I didn’t make any noise,” the grandma told West FM’s Joseph Amunya Otieno.
The man then escaped through the door after two hours of assault, leaving the old lady in a critical condition.
The grandma was rescued hours later, rushed to Chekalini for first aid before being taken to Lumakanda County Hospital.
