The race to succeed Musa Wangila Makhapila as Lugari Ward MCA is gaining momentum as aspirants continue to unleash their bids day by day.
The lastest to announce his candidature is Grey Moi, who received the United Democratic Party (UDP) ticket today in a function led by the party leader, Cyrus Jirongo, in Westlands, Nairobi, headquarters.
At the special meeting that brought together aspirants from all over the country, Grey seized the moment to speak about his agenda for the people of Lugari Ward.
He said he is up to creating jobs through youth inclusion in participation in county matters, rejuvenation of infrastructure, health facilities, quality education, and good governance.
He also noted that the people of Lugari Ward are guided by fear, which hinders development, something he is going to work on.
Mr. Moi boasts of gearing development in the community in various ways, such as helping in building latrines for institutions such as Mufutu Primary School, which was achieved through a harambee he organized.
One youth from the ward expressed confidence in the leader.
“This is my favorite MCA; I trust him with the ward’s funds. The same way amesimama na shule, kanisa, harambee wakati wa msiba, is the same way atasimama na sisi wakati wa maendeleo,” he said.
Grey went ahead to urge the people of Lugari Ward to vote for him in the forthcoming August 9 polls.
Mr. Moi has been on the ballot several times but has lost to incumbent Musa Wangila Makhapila. He believes this could be his lucky moment.
The race is attracting more than 14 aspirants, the highest number ever seen on the ballot in the history of the ward.
