A man from Bondeni Village, in Chekalini Ward, Lugari Sub-County, who today morning reportedly killed a 56-year-old neighbor in cold blood for stealing his sweet potatoes, has been arrested and his house burnt.
Edward Okulo, who is in his 50s, is said to have killed Godfrey Mbakulo, 56, after finding him on his potato farm.
Residents have also torched his house following the incident that happened early today around 6.00 AM.
Mr. Okulo is being held at Chekalini Police Station to help the police with investigations.
“He was arrested and police officers are camping at his home. His house has also been burnt down by angry residents,” Bondeni “A” village elder Agness Siko Mukhwana said.
The incident has left many in awe, some reprimanding Mr. Okulo for treating the old man harshly. Others demanded his immediate arrest.
The body of the deceased was taken to Lumakanda Police Station by the time this story got published.
