It is now official that Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi will defend his seat on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
Junet Mohamed, ODM chief whip and Suna East MP, said today that this came after deep discussions.
“But there was also our candidate, Michale Gumo, who participated in the nomination on the ODM ticket. The ODM party has consulted and Gumo has accepted to step down in favor of Wanyonyi,” he said.
Wanyonyi officially kicked off campaigns to retain his seat last week.
“Those who thought that we are fallen let them know that we have discussed everything and we will make sure ODM retains Westlands seat by ODM Party,” Tim said.
The MP said he agreed not to vie for the Nairobi County gubernatorial seat after the agreement that Odinga would be the presidential flagbearer of the Azimio la Umoja movement and Jubilee would be left with the Nairobi slot.
