The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance party has appointed Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya as Western and Nyanza region campaigns coordinator.
The appointment was made during a meeting that was held in Nairobi today. It was also decided that his deputy would be Kisii Governor James Ongwae.
“Today I am humbled to be appointed as the Western and Nyanza regions campaign chairman of Azimio la Umoja,” Opranya said.
He added that he has already organized a campaign committee that includes MPs from the 11 counties in the region that will be working with Azimio campaigns.
Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and his Tongaren counterpart Eseli Simiyu will cover Bungoma County as Caleb Hamisi takes charge of Trans-Nzoia County.
Vihiga County will be led by nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi, while Busia will be under Raphael Wanjala and Florence Mutua.
Junet Muhammed will be head of Migori County; Gladys Wanga and John Mbadi, Homabay County. Opiyo Wandayi will be in charge of Siaya County, and Simba Arati and Janet Ong’are will be Kisii County representatives.
Oparanya said that the main purpose of the committee is to help ODM flag bearer Raila Odinga gather votes in the region.
