Three people were rushed to hospital following a scuffle at a funeral in Sirisia, Bungoma County, after supporters of two political camps collided.
During the burial ceremony of Mzee John Kawa in Tembwa Village in Butonge, followers of Sirisia MP John Waluke and those of Malakisi/South Kulisiru MCA Everline Mutiembu engaged in a fight with supporters of Sirisia ODM aspirant Moses Nandwa.
Waluke’s supporters allegedly harassed Nandwalwe’s personal assistant, forcing him to cut short his speech before his supporters intervened and a fight ensued.
Three people, among them bodaboda operators, sustained serious injuries before they were rushed to Sirisia Sub-County Hospital.
“I’m really annoyed with what has happened. I can’t imagine how leaders of such caliber can use youths to cause mayhem and destruction at a funeral. It is very shameful,” Sirisia bodaboda chairman Amos Nyongesa said.
