Former Kakamega Senator and Amani National Congress (ANC) gubernatorial candidate, Cleophas Malala, has said that his administration will ensure contracts allocated to wards in the county will be executed by residents in the event he is elected governor.
Malala, who was speaking to Marama Central residents in Butere Constituency, pointed an accusing finger at outgoing Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, blaming him for awarding contracts to his close friends and neglecting the common mwananchi.
“We want to make millionaires in every ward, and this is what I am going to do. For example, I am putting up classes here at Marama Central, no contractor will come from outside. Even if you don’t have money we shall advance you,” he said.
The politician said his initiative will transform the lives of the people of Kakamega.
“It will put money in the pockets of the common mwananchi. We want to make Kakamega great,” he said.
Cleophas Malala will be facing off with ODM candidate Fernandes Barasa in a fierce battle to succeed Wycliffe Oparanya in Monday’s election that had been earlier suspended.
The two rivaling camps are expected to make a climax of their campaigns as the period elapses today.
