Two accidents along the Eldoret-Webuye highway claimed the lives of four people and left others nursing severe injuries over the weekend.
In the first incident, two people died on the spot and three others sustained injuries after a truck rammed into a motorcycle at Kaburengu junction in Matete, Kakamega County.
The lorry, which was transporting sugarcane, hit the bike from the rear while descending the steep slope at Chimoi, killing the rider and his passenger on the spot.
The two bodies were taken to the Webuye Sub-County hospital mortuary in Bungoma County.
The accident between Mwamba and Turbo
In another accident between Mwamba and Turbo in Uasin Gishu County, two people died after two motorbikes collided at Spring Park.
Three others are nursing injuries.
Lugari Sub County Police Commander Bernard Ngungu said the accident occurred when the motorcyclist coming from Turbo crushed into the one coming from the opposite direction in Mwamba carrying two police officers from Turbo Police Station.
“The bodaboda man carrying the officers died on the spot, as well as one police officer. The second one, the rider of the other bike and his passengers, escaped with injuries,” he added.
The injured were rushed to Turbo Sub-County Hospital before they were transferred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kimbilio Mortuary.
