Speaker of the Senate Ken Lusaka today unveiled Mama Jennifer Chemtai Mbattiany from the Sabaot Community in Mt. Elgon as his running mate for the Bungoma gubernatorial seat in the August 9 polls.
Lusaka, during the unveiling in Bungoma, said that he has confidence in Mama Jenipher.
“She is one of our country’s finest peace advocates, a public defender, a pastor, and a good woman of God,” Lusaka said.
On her side, Mama Jennifer assured Lusaka that she would work extra hard to make him the next governor of Bungoma.
“First, let me thank His Excellency, Hon. Lusaka for having confidence in me. This shows how much he cares about women. I am ready to work with you and bring this victory home,” she said.
Lusaka, a former governor of Bungoma, is running for the third time. He was the first governor between 2013 and 2017 before he was defeated by the incumbent Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati in the 2017 general elections.
He is now running on the Ford Kenya Party ticket under Kenya Kwanza Coalition and will face Wangamati, who is vying under the DAP-K ticket under Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
