Likuyani MP Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy has promised to award money and laptops to 601 students in his constituency who managed to score C+ and above in KCSE 2021.
In a move to boost education standards in the constituency, the lawmaker announced that A (plain) students will receive KShs 40,000 and a laptop each as those who scored A- (minus) get awarded with KShs 30,000 and a laptop each. KShs 20,000 and a laptop will be awarded to those who scored a B+ (plus), while those who managed B (plain) and C+ (plus) will get KShs 20,000 each.
The legislator, while addressing residents in Likuyani Ward, said that he was impressed by the good results posted by secondary schools in his constituency, including Matunda S.A. secondary school, which produced the best candidate at a sub-county level in Western Kenya.
Kibunguchy, who is defending his seat in the August 9 general election, has made it a norm to award the best-performing students in his constituency, and he says this plan is to prioritize education by providing a conducive learning environment for both teachers and learners.
