Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has stirred reactions after claiming that he applied to run for presidency under the ODM party ticket, paid the required Kshs 1 million but the party has since gone silent.
Speaking on an interview with Citizen TV last evening, the two-term governor said that he had sent in his application very early.
“As a party, ODM has its own nomination procedures. In one of the meetings, we agreed to nominate our presidential candidate as early as possible so that our members can know the presidential candidates,” he said.
He added that should his application be processed, he could still throw a shot at the presidency. He still would consider supporting his ODM leader Raila Odinga over the same, he said.
Oparanya declared in 2020 his desire to vie for the presidency, but he has been conspicuously been part of Odinga brigade to make the former prime minister’s ambition to enter State House true.
