“We saw someone passing while carrying a TV and a swarm of bees around him, so we followed him to see if he was a thief and what was going to happen to him,” a witness said.

The wronged owner, identified as Joseph Waundo, a hotel manager who had lost a TV set, money, and other belongings four days prior to the incident, is said to have approached a witch doctor and asked him for help to retrieve his property worth KShs 57,000.

The police officers were forced to shoot in the air to disperse the crowd that was baying for the man’s blood. He was arrested and is being held at Kakamega Police Station as investigations continue.
