Malala: Luhyas need operational factories, not political appointments

Key to note:

– Malala will be vying for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat for the first time
– He will be doing so on the ANC ticket
– His main rival is ODM aspirant Fernandes Barasa

Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, who is vying for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat on the ANC party ticket, has expressed his wish for the industrialization of Kakamega County.

In a speech at Khwisero Market in Khwisero Constituency, Malala insisted that the Luhya community is in dire ‘need of operational factories, an economy that is friendly, and a government that promotes a conducive environment for trade’.

The former senator emphasized that the Mulembe community doesn’t need positions and political appointments.

“If you Mudavadi and Wetangula clinch the top position in Ruto’s government, the first thing to do is revive the Mumias Sugar factory,” he said.

The senator went ahead to throw jibes at the Azimio la Umoja camp, saying that its idea is unsaleable in Western Kenya.

“Selling Azimio la Umoja in Western Kenya is like selling pork in Saudi Arabia because they have no tangible track record on what they have done for Western on matter development. They also have no clear plans on how they will empower the region beyond 2022,” read his post on Twitter.

The Kakamega gubernatorial election will be held on Monday with curtains falling on campaigns this Friday.
