Allies of Lugari parliamentary aspirant for the UDP, Bryan Liseche, have taken on his opponent from ODM, Nabii Nabwera, terming him a perennial loser who has nothing to offer the constituency.
Liseche’s close associates, led by hopeful Mautuma Ward MCA Charles Anyona, have laughed off Nabii for failing to win the 2013 and 2017 elections, both of which were won by outgoing Lugari MP Ayub Savula.
In a rally at Makutano Market in Mautuma Ward, Liseche’s allies told residents that it is now time for a new face to rule Lugari.
“Our competitor Nabii Nabwera has been trying since 2013 and 2017 and he was defeated by Ayub Savula, ataambia nini watu (what can he tell people),” Martin Juma, one of Liseche’s campaigners, said, adding that Mr. Nabwera has held senior positions in the Kakamega County government but his work is nowhere to be seen.
The campaigners assured Mautuma residents and Lugari people that they are ready to invest heavily in the education sector, youth and women empowerment, as well as infrastructure.
“We want to change Mautuma and Lugari Sub-County so that it can be like other regions. Let you people vote wisely and make that right choice for your benefits,” Charles Anyona said.
Bryan Liseche, a businessman who is vying for the seat for the very first time, said that it is time to change the narrative of voting for ‘mtu wetu’ (someone from my tribe).
