A man is being held at Lumakanda Police Station after stabbing his friend to death over love gone sour.
William Khisa, 44, is said to have attacked his friend, Joshua Omukola, 39, at a drinking den in Itumbu Village of Chekalini Ward, Lugari Sub-County, and stabbed him several times with a sewing needle after accusing him of preying on his lover.
Lugari Sub-County OCPD, Bernard Ngungu, told the Western Kenya Times that Mr. Omukola, a neighbor of the deceased, was lynched by the mob after the incident that occurred under a drizzle at around 5 PM this evening.
“He was rescued by the police and rushed to Lumakanda County Hospital where he was treated and discharged. He is now being held at Lumakanda Police Station to help with investigations,” the senior police officer said.
A witness told the Western Kenya Times that residents burnt down houses at Mr. Khisa’s compound in protest of the incident.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Kimbilio Mortuary in the neighboring Uasin Gishu County as the suspect is expected to be arraigned in court to answer murder charges.
