Deputy President William Ruto turned to journalists in the middle of his speech to victims of the 2007/2008 Post Election Violence in Njoro, Nakuru, and asked them to leave.
The second in command was sharing a word with the victims who had been mobilized by grassroot leaders from the vote-rich region about the importance of maintaining peace to avoid a repeat of what happened in 2007/2008.
It was at this juncture that the Deputy President turned to journalists, asked what they were doing in the meeting, and told them to leave.
“Do we still have media houses here? You people get out we discuss important things. Mimi sitaki hawa watu hapa,” an angry Ruto was recorded saying.
He went on to say that reporters have too much propaganda and were therefore not needed in the meeting.
